The Marker by Gillian Dinh is a creative studio based in Wollongong, formed by emerging Australian artist and letterer, Gillian Dinh.
The Marker specialises in hand-lettering, branding, event stationery and mural art. The Marker’s creations develop from the use of traditional hand-drawn and lettering techniques, reflecting Gillian’s personal values and characteristics.
The Marker by Gillian Dinh was commissioned to paint her first wall art in 2016, sparking the flame to create large scale murals and public art as a pathway to share her passion for lettering with the local community.

My personal taste resonates closest with the great Leonardo Da Vinchi. His particular attention to soft shadow and luminous highlights is something that is too beautiful to be forgotten. You simply do not find artwork of astounding beauty anymore. I want to bring it back.
My methods are very similar to Da Vinchi’s, although the materials have changed to suit the scale of my projects. I replace his oil paint and turpentine glazes, win favour of spray paint and gloss varnishes. The end effect is a shimmering portrait full of depth, colour and luminosity.
